Three example lines · cycles every few seconds

Three things generic OCR tools get wrong about restaurants.

Per-line VAT.

Every line on the receipt gets its own rate, not one rate for the whole bill. Pizza at 13.5%, beer at 25.5%, service fee at 0% — all from one snap.

Audit trail per ruleId

Mixed-rate detection.

Food, alcohol, and service in one bill? 3 different rates per typical restaurant receipt. We tag each line. Generic OCR tools assume one rate per receipt.

Catches mixed VAT on every line

Finnish vendor lexicon.

K-Market, S-Market, Olo, Kappeli, Kosmos — we know which receipts come from food vs alcohol vs retail and apply the right rules.

Restaurant operator questions, answered.

What if my receipt is in Finnish?
That's the home language. Baslic was built for Finnish receipts first — kuitti, alv, palvelumaksu, juomat — the lexicon and rule engine are tuned for Finnish vendor names and line-item wording. Swedish and English also work; other Nordic languages are coming on customer request.
Does it handle takeaway vs dine-in VAT differently?
Yes. Takeaway food carries the same 13.5% rate as dine-in in Finland, but some receipts mark a delivery/service fee that changes the per-line breakdown. We tag the dine-in / takeaway signal where the receipt makes it explicit and apply the downstream rules. If the signal is missing, the AI falls back to dine-in and you can override per receipt.
Can my accountant access my data?
If you want them to. Invite them to your workspace as read-only or suggest-mode (your call) — they see your receipts, export the period to Procountor / Netvisor / e-conomic, and propose VAT corrections without overwriting anything. You stay in control of what gets accepted.
What about delivery platform invoices (Wolt, Foodora)?
Wolt and Foodora monthly settlement invoices import as a single receipt with per-order line items. We split the platform fee (25.5%) from the food revenue (13.5%) so your VAT return doesn't double-count. If you want per-order detail, the CSV export includes every line.
Will it work for my food truck or catering business?
Yes. The PRO tier doesn't care about your venue type — it cares about per-line VAT, mixed-rate detection, and Finnish vendor patterns. Food trucks and catering hit the same VAT complexity as a sit-down restaurant (food / alcohol / service) plus the occasional event-rental line, all of which the rule engine handles.
